  •  Hi, Hannes

Nominally I`m at lesson 48, but in actuality, I`m at lesson 16. Part of the reason for this is being laid off last year and going through a rough patch, especially emotionally.

The good thing in all this is that I attended one of your free seminars some time before that, decided to attend the Property Pro course and after that decided to join the mentorship programme. If I hadn`t, I would probably be satisfied with finding a new job, going on with my life, writing a novel on and off (as I had been doing for the last couple of years), and so on, while still being vaguely dissatisfied and not doing something focussed about it.

But with the courses and having my mind opened to the possibilities and finally starting to believe that I might actually be able to get myself out of a `normal` financial situation and life, added to the kick out of the nest being laid off gave me, I might just fly. I found a new job, yes, but I also started doing something about making my dreams a reality.

Being naturally a bit disorganised and more of a starter than a finisher, I needed a plan and one that I could follow without getting discouraged while always keeping myself motivated to get to the big goals. The result was a daily planner with all the tasks broken up into smaller chunks, ticking off the things I completed, measuring (in a number) how much I get done every day, tracking my progress each day (little by little) to the big goals and actually feeling that I`m getting somewhere. Recognize elements from the mentorship programme lessons? You should :).

Guess what the number one goal in the financial area (as per the mentorship programme) of my life is? Becoming financially independent. How? By making my dreams a reality: painting (something I wanted to do for a long time) and selling the paintings, writing and selling what I write (ditto), taking photographs and selling the results. But by selling, I don`t mean once-off, this is one product and I will sell it to one person/ intitution, I mean creating income streams, preferrably passive ones. And that is a difference I learned on the mentorship programme.

The first little business isn`t really a business. I like painting from photographs and I like painting something that`s more than just a pretty picture, so I went to my dancing class` rehearsal for a studio show and took as many photographs (digital ones!) as I could. The resulting photos I put on CD and sold the CD`s for R10 to my fellow classmates. No, I didn`t make much money. However, I covered my costs of the CD`s and going to Johannesburg and taking the photographs, and, more importantly, I`ve got lovely material to paint, people that don`t mind if I paint them and a bit of business experience into the bargain. Now the paintings only need to get done and sold, but that`s a story that still lies in the future :).

I also decided to rent out my townhouse, instead of selling, and to rent a cheaper place (much) closer to work. This is my first adventure into residential letting, hopefully of many, and I`m learning so much.

Point is: before the mentorship programme, there`s no way that even these little stories would have come about. I feel as if I`m on the brink of so many possibilities and wonderfull things in the future and now I know how to start getting there.

So thanks for giving my world a paradigm shift.

    Groete
