Hi Hannes ... ... eventhough the chances of joining you to Mauritius are slim (about 1 in 50 or so?), as per your rules all entries stand a chance to be picked at random, ... my risk is zero, I`m NOT in control (you are), so if I`m not picked at random it`s not my fault because it wasn`t me that failed to pick me but you - so I couldn`t have failed because I did what I had to do ... and did so to the best of my ability, which means, no matter what, I succeeded! To some this may sound like a joke, to me this is a pivital breakthrough and a major revelation as to the definition of success. I`m a person with very high standards for myself and as you said, "some people make it so difficult for themselves to succeed that they set themselves up for failure even before they start". I`ve been one of those people, simply because I set the standards so high that they were virtually impossible to reach ... so I did nothing and procrastinated. Outch, that hurts! Hannes, if I were to share only 1% of what I have taken ownership of from you being my mentor, a whole book would not do any justice to the true value you`ve added to my life. What you are giving off yourself is not only touching my life, it is reaching deep into the essence of my being - even aspects of myself I`ve lost touch with for too long. Success is indeed a process and I have just started that race. I could tell of many little (and not so little) victories but I like to go back to the time even before the mentoring course was launched, because this is where you unknowingly shifted my head into gear with the result that I had a major success even before the mentoring course started: At the end of last year I enrolled for the Property Pro Workshop, which, by the way, I would make part of the national school curriculum! I was blown away ... not so much by what I learnt about investing in property as by a simple comment you made, to the effect of "I can push up my IRR waaaaay higher by starting a business than investing in property ..." That comment stunned me! Here I`m attending a workshop on property investing, am totally intrigued by the Property Pro Pragram, see myself making a killing, and now, just as an aside, this guy mentions that starting a business is a much easier way to get going - or so I interpreted it! Why on earth would I invest in property then, if there is a better way? Since that day, most of the time my mind was occupied with just that; "pushing the IRR waaaay higher by starting a business"! I became obsessed with the idea and as life would have it, I got a call from my best friend saying that we need to sit down and discuss a business option. We did the projections, and armed with what I had, at the time, just learnt about IRR as a measuring tool and the Property Pro Program, I now understood what you meant ... waaaaay higher!!!! We started with the "Trust Marketing Business" (nothing to do with TRUSTS) and off we went realizing an IRR I would in the past only have dreamt of. I resigned my job one-and-a-half months after starting the business ... the income became passive and working in a Just Over Broke (JOB) situation was just no longer a option - I didn`t know it then, but I became a entrepreneur! Not in the property sector as I had planned ... but as I said before, I have just started out in the race of success ... and when the property market takes a knock, I`ll be there to `help` ... you know what I mean! In the meantime, I have an asset that I consider to be a privilege to have - you as my mentor. Thank you, Hannes, for impacting my world!
